Why is My Washing Machine Not Rinsing Properly?

Modern washing machines have a large selection of washing modes, some devices can even wash shoes. The “Rinse” mode is present in almost all models, even in the simplest. But often owners of machines are faced with the fact that rinsing does not work, as a result, the laundry is delivered all in foam and detergent. What to do if the washing machine does not rinse? It is important to initially determine the cause of improper operation, after which eliminate the factors that interfere with the washing process or seek help from a service center.

THE WASHING MACHINE DOES NOT RINSE, SPIN OR DRAIN THE WATER

If the washing machine does not work not only rinse, but also fails to drain and spin, the cause lies in the drain system. This type of breakdowns is the simplest, most of them can be eliminated by yourself at home.

Clogging in the filter

Washing dirty laundry is accompanied by the accumulation of small debris in the water (dust, lint, food crumbs, threads, etc.) as well as larger items forgotten in pockets (coins, toothpicks, matches, etc.). The washing machine has a special filter that keeps debris out of the sewer system. Over time, the filter accumulates too much debris, and eventually the water cannot pass through it. If the machine does not rinse and does not spin, it is this unit that is initially checked.

Find the filter in the washing machine can be found in the lower part of the washing machine, it is hidden under the cover, which will need to be picked up to open. The filter itself is a screwed-in part that looks like a plug. To remove it, you need to scroll the part counterclockwise. It is advisable to place a container under the machine before opening the drain filter. Even if cleaning is carried out between washes, there may be a small amount of water inside.

Remove all large debris from the filter, and rinse the part thoroughly under running water. Reassemble in reverse order and check that the problem has been eliminated.

Clogging of the filter screen

The rinse will not start even if the filler pipe is clogged. At the end of the part, a filter screen is installed, which does not allow various debris – sand, rust particles, etc. – to enter the machine. The filter is present in all modern washing machines. If it is clogged, water for rinsing is simply not poured into the machine, as a result, the process does not start. For cleaning it is necessary:

  1. Shut off the water supply to the machine and disconnect it from the mains to avoid electric shock.
  2. Unscrew the filler hose. If the washing machine has been in use for a long time, you may need pliers to unscrew the part.
  3. Remove the filter brush and rinse it under running water. Large amounts of rust can accumulate on the part, sometimes a stiff pile brush is required for cleaning.
  4. After cleaning, carefully screw the hose back into place, connect the washing machine and check its operation.

PUMP FAILURE

If the washing process in the washing machine runs in the normal mode, but the rinse does not start, it indicates a failure of the drain pump.

In this case, rinse, spin, and normal water drainage from the tank are not started. Foreign objects can cause the breakage of the pump.

There are several other factors that indicate the failure of the drain pump in the washing machine:

  • strong humming and other uncharacteristic noises during the water filling process;
  • the machine does not react in any way to the change of washing modes;
  • the tank is not filled with water to a sufficient level;
  • the washing machine shuts down when water enters the drum.

Before repairing the pump, check the impeller, it may be clogged. It is necessary to clean and check whether the device spins without additional efforts. If the cleaning of the impeller does not help, a complete replacement of the defective pump is required. Doing the work yourself is undesirable, so as not to provoke other malfunctions.

The water level sensor is broken

The main purpose of the pressostat sensor in the machine is to control the water level in the drum. The washing process starts at the moment when a command is received from the control board to dial or drain the water. After the same command from the pressostat starts the rinsing and spinning process. Failure of the water drain sensor leads to the fact that it does not give any signals to the control board, as a result, switching of washing modes does not take place.

You can identify the breakage of the water level sensor in the machine by the following factors:

  • insufficient or excessive amount of water in the tank during the washing process;
  • starting the thermoelectric heater when there is no water in the drum;
  • odor of burning;
  • the “Rinse” mode is not started, water is drained immediately after dialing.

Since the repair of the sensor pressostat requires access to the internal device of the washing machine, it is advisable to involve in the process of troubleshooting masters from the service center.

The control unit has failed

A faulty unit does not give the washing machine the correct commands to start certain washing modes. If in the course of diagnostics the malfunction was detected in this particular unit, repair is possible in three ways – re-soldering, re-flashing, full replacement of the failed part.

IF THE DRAIN AND SPIN ARE WORKING

If the water from the tank is drained, the spin starts in the same mode, but the rinse still does not work, this indicates a more serious breakdown of the washing machine.

Failure of the heating element

Failure of the thermoelectric heater means that the water in the drum of the machine is not heated to the required temperature. Signals of insufficient temperature are transmitted to the control board, as a result, the washing process is not started. You can identify the breakdown yourself – start the washing process at a temperature of 30 degrees, when the water starts to heat up – touch the glass hatch cover. If it remains cold – the heating element is defective.

The defective heating element is removed and a new part is installed in its place. Repair of the unit is not carried out.

Failure in the control module

A common cause of electronics failure is contact with moisture or a short circuit. The problem can be self-corrected when the moisture on the contacts dries out over time.

It is impossible to repair the board on your own at home. Requires not only experience, but also special tools for preliminary diagnosis of electronics and subsequent repair. Self-intervention can only increase the cost of restoring the equipment.
